Whether he makes a formal announcement or not, it’s clear that Newt Gingrich is just days away deciding what to do next about a presidential run.
“Newt will most certainly not announce next week, but he will have made a decision on an exploratory phase one way or the other,” a Gingrich aide tells POLITICO’s Mike Allen.
The Gingrich aide was shooting down a line posted Saturday on Drudge Report that seemed to preview an apparent New York Times report indicating a Gingrich announcement next week. But no article had been posted on the Times website as of Saturday evening.
Nevertheless, the comment from Gingrich’s aide and a report on The Atlanta Journal-Constitution‘s website made clear that it’s zero hour for the former House Speaker.
“In 10 days, Newt Gingrich will be in Georgia, announcing his exploratory committee,” Atlanta lawyer and Gingrich adviser Randy Evans told the Journal-Constitution’s Jim Galloway.
