The Academy Awards is, without a doubt, the most prestigious of all cinematic awards throughout the year. The Golden Globes stand alone in second, but it is a distant second. On Sunday night, the 83rd Academy Awards lit up television sets across the world, yet it seemed something was missing.
Christopher Nolan, though his films have continually obtained numerous Oscars, he not only has never won one, but has never even been nominated for a single “Best Director” bid. His frequent collaborators, such as actors Michael Caine, Christian Bale, and sound extraordinaire, Hans Zimmer, have all received recognition, but for whatever reason, the powers that be have continued to snub Nolan of any recognition.
Nolan’s masterpiece of 2010 was, of course, “Inception.” A remarkable breakthrough in cinematography, “Inception” explored a world that every director has ventured to, yet none has ever dared to play with: dreams.
