Kevin Pietersen is to undergo surgery to repair a hernia following the World Cup. He will miss the Indian Premier League but hopes to be available for England’s first summer Test against Sri Lanka on 26 May.
An ECB statement said the injury “will continue to be managed throughout the World Cup and he will continue to participate in the tournament”.
