Rachelle Lefevre has landed the female lead in the NBC pilot, The Crossing, a network rep confirms.
The drama, written by St. Elsewhere co-creator Josh Brand, is set in post-Civil War Missouri and centers on Jason, a Civil War soldier who is welcomed into a complicated town as its savior. Lefevre will play Anna, a war widow whose husband was killed by Union soldiers and who begins an affair with Jason.
The 32-year-old actress’ casting on Crossing is in second position to ABC’s Off the Map, meaning if the midseason medical drama is renewed for a second season, Lefevre will remain on the show.
But Off the Map has struggled to find a mass audience, averaging just 5.5 million viewers since its January debut. A show insider tells TVGuide.com “Off the Map is very much still in contention for next year.”
Levefre’s casting was first reported by Deadline.
