Tea Party Wants Deeper Budget Cuts; GE Gets Away with Not Paying Taxes (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | Since the “Tea Party” unofficially split from the Republicans, the two groups have waged war. Where Republicans are trying to work on a plan, the Tea Party is going for Americans’ throats by demanding deeper budget cuts; collectively, the Tea Party does not think the current proposal is deep enough. If the bill were passed in its current state, it would devastate Americans, but for the Tea Party to want to cut even more would risk the future and health of all low-income Americans.

What’s Getting Cut?

The Budget Overview states that part of the $1 trillion in deficit reduction comes from “$62 billion in new, specific health care savings,” and many cuts come from health care-related programs. Clinics providing free and low cost health care will see $1.3 billion cut.
