The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) launched a new website Tuesday: CheerleaderInChief.com.
The website targets former Virginia Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine, who is considered a strong potential candidate to replace retiring Virginia Democratic Sen. Jim Webb, who recently announced that he will not run for reelection in 2012. Kaine is depicted as an enthusiastic “cheerleader” for President Obama.
In addition to a humorous video of Kaine waiving pom-poms, the website contains a “diary” of Kaine’s relationship with Obama.
Kaine has served as chair of the Democratic National Committee since 2009. If Kaine ran for the Senate seat, he could face off against former Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen, who lost his seat to Webb in 2006.
The Democratic Party of Virginia was not immediately available for comment on the content of the website.
