Oakland County received injections of 614 projected jobs under tax breaks approved Tuesday by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority’s board.
The state approved tax incentives totaling about $1.8 million to encourage three companies to relocate within the state or move their headquarters to Michigan and invest an estimated $27.1 million.
The companies include a German wind turbine manufacturer, an on-site wellness program provider and a Chinese maker of wire harnesses for non-Chinese automakers.
“The good news keeps on coming — over 600 news jobs being created in our Emerging Sectors program,” Oakland County executive L. Brooks Patterson said in a statement. “The light is burning bright at the end of the tunnel.”
The MEGA board also approved three brownfield redevelopment tax credits worth a total of about $12.6 million in Warren, Grand Rapids and East Lansing that are projected to create 47 jobs.
The approved brownfield and general tax breaks are expected to generate nearly $182 million in new investment and create an estimated 661 jobs.
