PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded outfielder Matt Diaz back to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations.
The 33-year-old Diaz hit .259 (56-for-216) with 12 doubles and 19 RBIs in 100 games after signing as a free agent on Dec. 14 with the Pirates.
Diaz returns to Atlanta, where he played the previous five seasons.
