The Score: Dewey, Polsinelli Take Top College Sports Roles

The Ohio State University’s football program was jolted in May by the resignation of head coach Jim Tressel, a move preceded by allegations of impropriety involving several current and former players.

Now the program could receive a helping hand from Dewey LeBoeuf under a plan put forth by Geoff Chatas, the university’s chief financial officer. Chatas wants Ohio State to hire Dewey and risk consulting firm Protiviti to advise the school on a review of all its regulatory compliance programs, including those of the athletic department, according to a report by The Associated Press.

Dewey utilities and power cochair Bud Ellis, consumer financial services cochair Gary Apfel, and corporate finance partner Eric Blanchard would handle any legal issues arising from the proposed review. (Dewey is representing JPMorgan Chase as lead financial adviser to Duke Energy on its $13.7 billion bid made earlier this year to acquire Progress Energy, where Chatas once worked.)
