If you have been wanting to get your hands on one of Google’s “nothing but the web” Chromebooks, but couldn’t justify the expense, it may be time to reconsider. Google announced yesterday that it has been working with both Acer and Samsung to lower prices on current models of the Chrome OS webtop computers. Instead of a starting price point of $349, you now only have to shell out $299 for the starter unit offered by Acer. With a sub $300 price tag, a Chromebook looks mighty appealing to put under the tree for yourself or a loved one.
Having been received with mixed reviews, the Chromebook is the product of the CR-48 program that Google launched last year.
