The Oregon Department of Revenue is holding another tax credit auction Thursday after the first auction raised less than a third of the $1.5 million the state wants to fund renewable energy grants.
“We owe it to the folks that are going to be applying to the renewable energy project grants to get as much money as possible for the program,” said Diana Enright, a spokeswoman for the Department of Energy.
During the first tax credit auction, the state attracted about two dozen bidders online, collecting $411,683.06.
One bidder from Lake Oswego bought 140 tax credits for $1,105 apiece, which was higher than what each tax credit was worth. Another bidder from Portland purchased 100 tax credits.
Each tax credit is worth $1,000; the minimum bid for each certificate is $950.
Portland resident Kris Alman bought 42 tax credit certificates for $970 each.
