A research team at the Tokyo Metropolitan University aims to change that by adding temperature feedback to devices, starting with a display, a game controller, and a chair.
The team employed a Peltier element, which can change temperature from hot to cold and vice versa when a voltage is applied. Added to a display, you can paint color on the test unit and that is fed back as different temperatures for each color when touched. Blue is cold, red it hot.
