Media Mash-Up: Am Law 100 Firms Snag Roles on Newspaper Deals, Olbermann-Current TV Standoff

Several Am Law 100 firms have grabbed roles on a recent spate of newspaper-related transactions, while prominent Los Angeles litigator Patricia Glaser helped another high-profile television personality end a simmering feud with his network.
Glaser—who once helped Conan O’Brien hammer out a very public settlement with NBC that allowed the talk show host to depart The Tonight Show—advised Keith Olbermann as he reached an agreement with Current TV that will see him host the fledgling cable news network’s presidential election coverage after Tuesday’’s Republican primary in New Hampshire.
Olbermann, who became Current TV’s chief news officer last year after wearing out his welcome at MSNBC, retained Glaser amid an escalating feud with Current executives over his role at the network. The dispute became so bitter that Olbermann had taken to broadcasting in front of a plain black background to protest the technical difficulties plaguing his show, which Current promptly preempted with its own election coverage after Olbermann declined to participate.
