
If your memory takes you back far enough, you’ll recall that ATT once offered unlimited data plans. That all ended with the iPhone 4′s summer release in 2010, and the carrier has since offered tiered data plans. Customers who were already on ATT did have the option of being “grandfathered in” and keeping their unlimited data. It looks like ATT may be ticking off some of those grandfathers, though, because the carrier is reportedly throttling some unlimited users after only using 2GB of data.
ATT customer John Cozen wrote on his blog that he received a throttling notice from ATT for being “one of the top 5% heaviest data users.” Cozen immediately took a look at his data usage, and saw that he had tallied a grand total of 2.1GB of data.
