Man pleads guilty in ‘Late Show’ museum vandalism

NEW YORK (AP) — An aspiring actor who went on a mortal bender has certified vandalizing a New York City museum where David Letterman tapes his television show.

James Whittemore pleaded guilty Monday to a misconduct criminal-mischief charge. He has paid roughly $7,000 in compensation and gotten alcohol-abuse treatment. He won’t have to do jail time or probation.

The 23-year-old Whittemore went on an peculiar rip during a Ed Sullivan Theater after-hours final July.

Authorities contend he crushed some of a theater’s potion doors and shop-worn pictures, phones and other items.
