Children’s book illustrator pounded in Mass. home

CUMMINGTON, Mass. (AP) — An award-winning children’s book illustrator is recuperating after an conflict in her Massachusetts home by a shovel-wielding teenager.

Jane Dyer tells The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/QbficW ) a 14-year-old child entered her Cummington home on Jul 26 and struck her in a behind of a conduct with a shovel.

He continued to kick her while she lay on a floor. He left and was arrested about a half hour later.

She suffered blunt-force injuries and a wound to her conduct requiring 5 surgical staples. She says she has no thought because he pounded her.

Prosecutors contend a child was arraigned on charges including home advance and attack to murder.

Dyer has illustrated children’s books including a “Cookies” array by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, and “Time for Bed” by Mem Fox.
