A court in India’s Mumbai city has sentenced two men to death for their role in the 1993 serial bomb blasts.

Firoz Khan and Tahir Merchant were convicted of conspiracy in the blasts which targeted a dozen sites.

Abu Salem who fled India after the bombings and was extradited from Portugal in 2005 was one of two others who were given life sentences.

The explosions killed 257 people, and were allegedly to avenge the killing of Muslims in riots a few months earlier.
