(RNS) On Monday (Oct. 2), President Donald Trump spoke to a nation still reeling from the mass shooting Sunday night in Las Vegas. At least 50 people were killed and more than 400 injured in what is the worst mass shooting in modern American history. 

President Trump, who spoke from a script, referred to “scripture,” quoting Psalm 34, and named faith as something with the power to unite the country.
