Making its way through its 2015 lens roadmap, Fujifilm announced that the XF35mmF2 R WR lens projected in February will be available as scheduled in November for $500 (directly converted, £324, AU$690).

As the name indicates, it’s weather resistant (to 14 degrees F/-10 degrees C), plus it uses internal focus, Fujifilm’s Nano-GI coating to reduce ghost and flare, has a nine-blade aperture and can focus as close as 13 in./396 cm.

While Fujifilm’s faster 35mm f1.4 lens is only $600 (roughly £280, AU$680), it’s not weather resistant; hence the need for a second fast model. The 35mm has an equivalent angle of view to 53mm on one of the X-series cameras, which makes it a great general-purpose standard or portrait lens.

The company also made good on its promise of a 1.4x teleconverter with the XF1.4X TC WR. It’s not compatible with all the lenses; it seems it will work with the XF 50-140mm f2.8 (for the pro staple 70-200mm range) and future lenses. You’ll lose a stop of light with the teleconverter, but it’s also weather resistant. Fujifilm plans to ship in in November for $450 (directly converted, that’s about £292 or AU$620).
