Saying Goodbye to Waiting Rooms

by | Mar 1, 2016 | Health Featured

One of the biggest reasons that people simply hate going to the doctor is the administration of it all. Individuals already have enough to do on their plates, so when extra layers are added over and over again there are more than enough reasons to just ignore the process and skip the doctor altogether. Obviously this can be a major problem for all parties involved, because while the patients are neglecting advice and medical attention, the clinics are losing potential opportunities to prevent further damage, as well as losing out on the chance to bring in more revenue to a practice.

Convenient

The one thing that people are starting to buy into out of nowhere is the ability to jump right in to new electronics and applications. While only a decade or two ago no one was sure what the internet was, and even a few years ago there were problems with delays and other connectivity issues, today you can jump onto your mobile or electronic device and communicate with the professionals and experts in only a few moments notice. Not only are people able to actually see someone face to face, but when it comes to waiting in line, filling out forms, and sitting with other sick patients, it can be a nightmare.

The worst thing about having to deal with all of the paperwork, shuffling about and the waiting is that it puts you in an irritable mood before you see the one person who can help you the most. And if you happen to be irritable then how can you conveniently communicate with the doctor? Believe it or not, there are studies out there that have shown exactly how much doctors have to deal with aggravated patients as well.

Secure

The first thing that people will point to about hospitals and medical offices in general is the inability to secure information. However, this isn’t the Internet of the olden days or even a few years ago. Having the proper protocols in place can protect any business or organization from putting any data at risk. When you consider some of the companies out there like HIPAA compliant video conferencing with Blue Jeans then you can tell there certainly are organizations that are more than ready to do whatever work is necessary to ensure all data is not just secure, but fully compliant as well.

If you consider the actual costs of running a hospital and the costs that are therefore passed onto the patients, it only makes sense that the top and most effective hospitals out there are currently looking for the best ways to better communicate with all of their employees and patients while also being able to minimize those costs as well along the way. Obviously the number one motivator should not be money when you are dealing with peoples’ health; however, in today’s society you have to be more efficient with your resources than you ever have had to before.

Easy to Use

When you consider the sudden explosion of applications and software over the last few years, you already know that apps are here to stay. Not only will younger people be more receptive to doing things if they can chat over the web, but by putting the technology into their hands they will actually be more proactive. Furthermore, this isn’t just a young person’s game either as seniors are starting to jump more into the field of apps and technology as well. Applications don’t just get patients to buy in more; they also allow patients to avoid the hassle of meeting physically (unless it is necessary). This means people can literally speak with their doctor on a video conference call in just a few minutes from wherever they prefer. Say goodbye to using personal days to visit the doctor and realize how convenient technology in the medical community is about to become.

When you consider all of the baby boomers that are now entering their golden years and you also consider the importance of keeping them healthy while still being cost efficient, the fact of the matter is integrating technology into the medical field in multiple capacities not only needs to happen but when it does it will save money and prove to be far more efficient than the current model.

When it is all said and done there are many things that will continue to happen within the medical world. The laws are changing just as quickly as the processes are, and that means there is plenty of opportunity to continue getting better with innovation. However, one thing seems to make sense. If you are just improving an inefficient system you won’t winder up with that much improvement after all. That’s exactly the reason why video conferencing is stepping into the world of the medical professionals and is helping to bring people together quicker, easier, and more secure than they ever have before.
