Chicago’s O’Hare airport is preparing for an expansion, and this week the city revealed the five shortlisted designs competing for the job — now up for a public vote.

Among the top architecture firms in the running are London’s Foster + Partners, Chicago’s Studio Gang Architects, Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, all proposing designs to replace the airport’s 1960s-built Terminal 2 with a modern, international terminal.
