TULSA, Okla. — It’s hard to define the biggest sign that things are different this time around for Buffalo, that winning in the first round of the NCAA tournament is no longer a novelty but instead, they hope, a necessary first step.

It might have been the postgame locker room Friday afternoon, where after a dominating win against Arizona State, what was remarkable was the sheer lack of emotion.

“We celebrated a little bit,” senior guard CJ Massinburg says, almost in protest.
