UTC’s first sorority celebrates centennial
Earlier this month, Chi Omega, the first sorority at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, celebrated its 100th birthday with a variety of activities including gatherings of alumni from different decades, campus tours and more.
UTC’s Chi Omega chapter was established on March 15, 1919, at the university, then the University of Chattanooga.
Kim White, president and CEO of Chattanooga’s River City Co., was president of the UTC chapter of Chi Omega in 1981 and is a chair of the sorority’s “Building Our Future” campaign today, which is in the process of raising $1.5 million to build a new chapter house at 515 O’Neal St., adjacent to UTC’s intramural fields.
“It changed my entire life,” White said in a statement.
