Footwear manufacturer Crocs will close its Ontario distribution center by the end of the year and lay off 183 workers, according to a letter sent to state officials.
The company plans to move its distribution hub to a new facility in Ohio that will have extensive automation features, company officials said in its latest earnings disclosure.
The California Economic Development Department was informed of the move Feb. 28 in compliance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires employers to inform the state about layoffs. The job cuts are gradual and will begin July 1.
