Not. One. Penny. On Tuesday I was shocked to read that the developer of the former Buckeye Steel Castings seeks a 15-year, 100 percent property-tax abatement from Columbus schools. More stunning is that our school board is even considering what could only be described as a move to defund our classrooms.
A school district’s mission is to educate our students, not economic development. If the district were to approve this free pass on $8.9 million in property taxes, it will hit hard on students like myself and your child. At a time when the district is facing a takeover by the state, it’s ridiculous to even consider moving dollars out of the classroom to fund a private
