EUGENE, Ore. – A late night board meeting at LCC wrapped up with a vote to out-source food services on campus.

In a 5-2 vote, the Lane Community College board of directors decided to eliminate the current food services and replace it with vendors.

As a result, more than 20 employees will lose their jobs due to budget concerns.

However, some classified workers are expected to be reassigned to another department within the school.

“I’m disappointed I’m going to be out of a job, but I think the most people that are going to be impacted are going to be the students next fall,” said Bruce Barker, a cook with food services. “What are they going to do?”
