PEOSTA, Iowa (KCRG) — Northeast Iowa Community College says some recent recognition will help its nursing students find jobs.

The school’s one-year practical nursing and two-year Associated Degree nursing programs now have national accreditation. According to NICC staff, large hospitals will require incoming nurses to have degrees from accredited programs or years of experience in the field, so this helps eastern Iowa graduates get ahead of the rest.

NICC nursing student Abby Leslein is happy this accreditation came seven weeks before she’s set to graduate.
