WICHITA, Kan. A day after Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell announced that 700 jobs could be coming to Wichita’s WaterWalk area, specifically the former home for Gander Mountain, city leaders say they can’t confirm that projection nor what type of jobs could be added.

Thursday, Longwell said that “700 jobs” figure came from Wichita City Manager Robert Layton. Neither Longwell nor Layton could expand on Wednesday’s announcement.

“I couldn’t even tell you what it is,” Longwell says. “No one has given me any details. Maybe my lesson learned is, we don’t share anything unless we have definitive information. I’m not sure what the correct answer is.”
