LYNN HAVEN — Hope Rutherford, 14, began working her first job about one month after Hurricane Michael.

“I really like working here. I like having my own money,” said Rutherford, who is a server helper at Beef O’Brady’s in Lynn Haven. “I do anything I can. I like to push my limits.”

Rutherford is enjoying the job despite deciding to work to minimize stress on her parents. This is the new reality for many young students around Bay County as families continue repairing and cleaning up their homes and lives, and brace for the future of long-term recovery.
