Despite Friday’s severe weather, Daffin Park was teeming with people looking to celebrate the planet they call home at Savannah’s 2019 Earth Day Festival on Saturday.

The festival, which is organized by the Savannah Chatham Sustainability Coalition, is the largest education event in conjunction with Earth Day in Georgia and is one of the few left that has a major focus on education and activism.

“It’s really Savannah’s festival,” said Joanne Morton, SCSC director of Sustainable Events and Arts. ”We’re trying to invite as many community members as possible to be a part of it as well as sponsors to grow the movement that we want to make Earth Day every day.”
