It’s estimated that only 2 to 3% of early childhood educators are men. Billy Truong, an adjunct professor who teachers child development courses at a number of schools in the region, has organized a conference aiming to bring more into the field.
“Sooner or later, we’re going to get people accustomed to it,” Truong said. “And then next thing you know, it’s going to be a social norm. Unfortunately, it’s not right now. But it just takes a few people to start the movement.”
Along with a job fair and networking opportunities, the conference will feature workshops on creating welcoming environments for male educators
