STOCKTON — Hundreds of students from San Joaquin, Contra Costa and Amador counties enjoyed the sunshine and a day at the ballpark.

The Stockton Ports hosted Education Day on Tuesday at Stockton Ballpark, an annual tradition since the downtown waterfront stadium opened in 2005.

Students from elementary, middle, high schools and adult learning programs attended the game, the first of three Education Day matinees on the Ports’ schedule this season. On Tuesday, Stockton lost 4-3 to the San Jose Giants in front of 3,248 fans.
