DEWITT — The Central DeWitt Community Education Foundation has awarded its 2019 round of grants for teachers within the district and their various initiatives and projects.

This year’s allocations totaled just over $45,000. The foundation’s executive director, Pat Henricksen, said over $600,000 has now been distributed annually to teachers through grants and to students through scholarships in the foundation’s 26 years.

This year’s teacher grant recipients were:

– Eddie Mercado: $6,500 from the Henry Pelham Math & Science Endowment for a 3D printer.

– Carrie Viel: $6,700 from the Anne Volkman Endowment, Central DeWitt Community Educational Foundation, and Fred and Doris Gerdes Fine Arts Endowment for an earpiece microphone in the auditorium.

– Tammy McClimon: $1,440 from the Carolyn Hilmers Ruggeberg
