James Clapper, a former National Intelligence director, is set to deliver the keynote address at a conference on cybersecurity and school safety in Roanoke.

The educational technology leadership summit is titled “Making Connections” and will be at 8 a.m. Monday at Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center.

Roanoke County Public Schools and the Virginia Society for Technology in Education are the summit’s co-sponsors. The first such conference for school systems was held in Roanoke in 2017 and also featured Clapper, a retired Air Force lieutenant general.

This year’s conference will emphasize “the importance for school systems and businesses to consider security improvements to their facilities,” according to a news release.
