The charter school is defying the Providence School Board’s order to fire embattled Executive Director Rudy Moseley — a move that State Education Commissioner Ken Wagner said could lead to revocation of the school’s charter.

PROVIDENCE — State Education Commissioner Ken Wagner threatened Times² STEM Academy with charter revocation Wednesday, after the Providence School Board ordered the charter school to fire its embattled executive director.

The Times² board of trustees fired back and said Providence didn’t have the authority to remove the charter’s executive director, Rudy Moseley. 

If Times² lost its charter, it would be a first for a movement that dates back to the late 1990s.
