Stony Brook University comes in at No. 78 in the world in the new 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking, a global university ranking that aims to measure an institution’s impact on society based on its success in meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Stony Brook’s diverse student body enjoys fall on campus.

According to THE, SBU’s strong result is based on its scaled and pre-rounded performance on Sustainable Development Goal 17, Global Partnership for the Goals, and the University’s top three rankings among the 17 SDGs. These 17 goals – which include providing inclusive and equitable quality education, achieving gender equality and fostering innovation – were adopted by the UN in 2016 and provide a framework for developing the world in a sustainable way.
