The North Wilkesboro commissioners will hold a public hearing May 7 on plans to apply for a federal grant to partially fund an elevated 500,000-gallon water storage tank needed to help a local manufacturing operation expand and add at least 29 jobs.

The required hearing is on an application for a $580,000 Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to go toward the proposed $2.2 million town project in the town-owned Wilkes County Industrial Park on River Road/Liberty Grove Road. The hearing is at 5:30 p.m.
