The significant increase in the number of employers participating in the annual Spring Job Fair at Wilkes Community College Tuesday indicates the challenges employers in Wilkes County and the region face trying to fill new jobs or keep the jobs they already provide filled.
But a closer look at the companies and other entities that produced the record (for that local event) employer turnout might provide additional insight into area workforce issues.
Sixty-one employers signed up to participate but 54 actually were there due to several who were no-shows for various reasons. This “analysis” is based on all 61, assuming that to some degree they all are in a hiring mode.
