SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Board of Education signed on with Cenergistics at the March 2019 meeting in an effort to save money on electric bills through behavior modification. Review of documents and statements have yielded questions about the project.
The savings, estimated at $935,000 over five years, come at a price; an estimated $800,000 including the salary of an Energy Specialist to be hired by the district.
Board members had questions about the initiative prior to voting on the resolution.
At the March Sparta Board of Education meeting board member Kate Matteson asked whether the district administrators had talked about the program with nearby participating district. Business Administrator Pamela Hinman twice said she had spoken with Dave Corso the business administrator in Mount Olive.
