Internet job search company Indeed is partnering with Goodwill Industries International with the goal of helping 1 million job seekers find work.
“Indeed’s mission is to help people get jobs,” said Chris Hyams, CEO of Indeed. “Though we are in the midst of one of the strongest labor markets in recent memory, we know there are millions of people still struggling to find work. The right job opportunity can change someone’s life, and working with Goodwill will help us reach people that need extra support to find it.”
Indeed said the partnership will focus on providing access to opportunity and promoting inclusive hiring over the next five years. The initiative will target workers worldwide, with Goodwill serving as a strategic partner in the effort in the U.S. and Canada.
Indeed aggregates job listings from thousands of job boards, newspapers, trade associations and company career pages. Job seekers can search millions of jobs in over 60 countries and 28 languages. More than 250 million people each month search for jobs, post resumes and research companies on the site.
With 2,500 employees in Austin, Indeed has been one of Central Texas’ fastest growing internet companies. The company was founded in Austin and Stamford, Conn., in 2004, and was acquired by Japan’s largest recruitment firm, Recruit Co., in 2012 for an undisclosed price.
A year ago, Indeed announced plans for a new wave of expansion that would add as many as 3,000 new jobs in Austin over the next several years. Indeed has more than 9,000 employees worldwide.
Indeed’s main campus is at the Champion Office Park off Loop 360 (Capital of Texas Highway), and the company is expanding its presence in both downtown Austin and at the Domain.
Indeed and Goodwill will test several pilot programs for job seekers in 2019 as they begin scaling the initiative across North America. Indeed will work with partners globally with the goal of helping 1 million people worldwide find jobs through 2023.
Plans include partnering with employers to host job events at Goodwill locations, and providing training on how to build an online resume and conduct online job searches.
Goodwill Industries International is a network of 160 community-based organizations in the United States and Canada with a presence in 13 other countries. In 2018, local Goodwill organizations placed more than 280,000 people in employment in the U.S. and Canada.
“Together with Indeed, we believe we can help companies discover that their next great hire may not have a traditional background or career path, but that person has the skills and qualifications needed to make positive contributions,” said Steven Preston, CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “We have a great opportunity to bring our job seeker resources together to make a major impact on the trajectory of people’s lives.”
