Theresa May is under pressure to scrap her much-derided Brexit plan and resign.
The British prime minister spoke about the latest iteration of her European withdrawal deal in the House of Commons on Wednesday, as voices of dissent within her own party grew increasingly loud.
Not a full day has passed since May offered concessions to opponents, hoping to get enough support to get her deal agreed by parliament by offering the possibility of a “confirmatory referendum”.
But her efforts failed to impress.
“It’s now clear that the overwhelming majority of the parliamentary party, the voluntary party and the electorate now agree,” Conservative politician Andrew Bridgen told Reuters
