Five colleges in Central Massachusetts have been chosen to take part in a state program pairing colleges with high schools to help students continuing to a college education.
Worcester State University and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester are paired with Worcester Public Schools, and QCC is also partnering with Marlborough Public Schools. Fitchburg State University and Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner are working with Fitchburg, Leominster and Gardner public schools, and the Sizer School, a Fitchburg charter school. Framingham State University is paired with Framingham and Milford public schools.
In all, 17 early college programs received designation last week by the Gov. Charlie Baker Administration. By the 2019-2020 school year, enrollment in the programs is expected to hit 2,280, according to the Massachusetts Department
