Retired Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz hit another important milestone in his ongoing recovery process Saturday.

Ortiz’s wife, Tiffany, said in that the longtime designated hitter known as “Big Papi” has been moved out of the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston — significant progress after  nearly two weeks ago.

“He remains in good condition and continues to recover under the care of Drs. David King and Larry Ronan,” Tiffany Ortiz said in the statement. 

Ortiz was  — with the help of the Red Sox — after receiving initial treatment for his wounds at a Dominican hospital. He underwent two surgeries to treat injuries related to the gunshot wound, including a procedure
