To the Editor:
I am writing to express concern with the Climate Community Protection Act that is under discussion by the state Legislature in Albany. This bill, which would mandate the New York state Department of Environmental Conservation to eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions from any major source in the state by 2050, could be acted upon during the remaining weeks of this legislative session.
The bill as written would significantly harm many of our manufacturers, causing these companies that have called Central New York home for decades to cut good-paying jobs, invest elsewhere or even close their doors for good. Our members are expressing fear that their future will cease to exist, if this bill is passed and subsequently signed into state law.
