GRAND RAPIDS, MI – An agreement between Grand Rapids Community College and Ferris State University helps meet the region’s increasing need for qualified restaurant, food and beverage, and hotel management professionals, officials say.
Werner Absenger, chef and program director for GRCC’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education, said the institute worked with Ferris to create a clear transfer pathway for hospitality-focused students to Ferris for hospitality management.
He said every class will transfer under a new articulation agreement.
“There is not enough qualified help, so I can say with great confidence that graduates with an associate or bachelor’s degree will find good paying, rewarding jobs and be able to start a career,’’ Absenger said.
