Hermosa Beach Education Foundation President Carol Kluthe announced Friday that the organization surpassed its fundraising goal during the fiscal year, raising a record $1.3 million.

The results surpass the $1.2 million goal set for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

“HBEF exists to fill a large gap in funding, but our passion is to help drive the quality of education in this community,” Kluthe said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of the HBEF team, our volunteers, the Hermosa community, parents, and the local businesses and sponsors who were there with us every step of the way. We truly raised the bar, and I could not be more excited for where we are heading.”
