In his third professional game, Nathan Patterson pitched 2 ⅔ scoreless innings for the A’s in the Rookie-level Arizona League on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old right-hander started the game against the Indians and retired the first eight batters he faced before giving up a two-out single to right fielder Marlin Made in the third inning.

Patterson was removed from the game after surrendering the hit.

Dating back to his last appearance, Patterson had retired 14 batters in a row until Made’s single. He  and then in two innings in his second outing.

He now has a 4.76 ERA across 5 ⅔ innings.
