As a fourth consecutive season without a postseason appearance comes to an end, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced Sunday that Clint Hurdle will not return as the team’s manager.

Hurdle, one of the longest-tenured managers in baseball, had been Pittsburgh’s skipper since the start of the 2011 season. He led the team to the playoffs three consecutive years starting in 2013, claiming a wild-card spot each year. The Pirates advanced to the NLDS in 2013, but lost the winner-take-all contest the next two years.

Prior to that, Pittsburgh hadn’t reached the postseason since 1992.
