Formula 2 driver Juan Manuel Correa, who was involved in , was placed in an induced coma, his family announced Saturday. 

Correa and Hubert were involved in a high-speed crash at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps during a turn at the race’s treacherous Raidillon corner. Hubert was pronounced dead at the track and Correa has been in intensive care for the last week. 

Correa’s family released a statement Saturday, saying that new complications are currently facing the 20-year-old driver after he arrived in London to be further treated. He’s been diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, which is commonly found in victims of high impact accidents, and is currently in intensive care.
