This year, the Kansas State Fair opened the Education Center dedicated to agriculture. With sponsorship from the Kansas Farm Bureau, the Do Art building was transformed into the center — a colorful, creative, air-conditioned haven where children learn about the environment and where their food comes from.

“A lot of kids think their food comes from stores, not from the farm,” said the fair’s education manager, Jacki Eckert. “It’s so cool to watch them learn.”

Eckert and her crew decided to teach children about taking care of cows and metamorphosis.
